I was born and raised in London – with a lifelong fascination for both art and for the body and movement. Based on the latter, I was certified in 1987 as a fitness and movement instructor under the RSA (Royal Society of Arts) and began working as a personal trainer.
From the very beginning, I was fascinated by how physical activity is not “just” physical activity, but also an expression of (and an opportunity for developing!) a person’s physical and psychological well-being and self-understanding – including everything the body and mind carry with them (which one is not necessarily consciously aware of).
Alongside my work, I completed a course of study in reflexology and a training in massage therapy – which subsequently became an increasingly large part of my daily practice.
After a few years I moved to the USA, where I was employed at Boston University Medical Center Hospital (now BMC), and where I had the opportunity to pursue further training in the perspectives I experienced as particularly central to my focus: the interaction between psyche and soma in health and development.
From there the path quite naturally led even deeper into the field of treatment of acupressure, where my many years of practice and mind–body perspective made it obvious to specialize in the Jin Shin Do tradition – probably the branch that most strongly emphasizes the importance of working with awareness of both mind and body.
Today, most healthcare competencies are highly specialized (and very qualified!) – but for the same reason, as a patient one can sometimes find it difficult to figure out whether, for example, persistent stomach problems are a matter for the doctor or the psychologist.
Here, I sometimes feel that, in a way, I have drawn a lucky card – because in acupressure, the answer to whether the problem is “something in the body” or “something psychological” is always that it is something involving the whole; and therefore, it is the whole person we work with and follow from session to session.
Jin Shin DoⓇ
Jin Shin DoⓇ is a form of acupressure, a body technique that involves me applying pressure to specific points on the body to promote physical and emotional healing. Jin Shin DoⓇ combines elements of traditional Japanese acupressure, Chinese acupuncture theory, Taoist philosophy, and Western psychology. Practitioners of Jin Shin Do use their fingers to press specific points along the body’s energy pathways (meridians) to remove blockages and balance the flow of energy (Qi). This can relieve stress, reduce pain, and improve overall well-being by harmonizing Qi energy in the body. The approach is gentle and non-invasive, often described as deeply relaxing and meditative, with the aim of harmonizing body, mind, and spirit.
The Emotion CodeⓇ
The Emotion Code is an energy healing technique designed to identify and release trapped emotions (energetic blockages), which are believed to be negative emotional energies stuck in the body due to past traumatic events or stress. These trapped emotions can cause physical pain, emotional difficulties, and impede overall wellbeing. The process involves using muscle testing (a form of kinesiology) to communicate with the client’s subconscious mind and identify trapped emotions. Once identified, these emotions are released using specific techniques that remove the energy from the body. The goal is to promote emotional and physical healing by clearing these
energy blockages.
Access Consciousness BarsⓇ
Access Consciousness Bars is a therapeutic technique that involves gently touching 32 points on the head, which are believed to store the electromagnetic components of all the thoughts, ideas, attitudes, decisions, and beliefs you have ever had. The practice aims to release these stored energies, promoting mental clarity, reduced stress, increased energy, and overall well-being.
